Electronics: Pharos GPS Systems

Pharos GPS products are produced by Pharos Science and Applications, Inc. This company was founded in 1998, making them relative newcomers to the global positioning industry. As their name suggests, however, they are a team of career scientists and researchers working to apply science-based knowledge and technology to the practical world. Many Pharos employees have backgrounds in aerospace, astrophysics, and particle physics.

If such scientific credentials seem to have little to do with GPS navigation, you should consider what GPS navigation entails. In order for GPS to work, a receiver must be able to locate several satellites orbiting high above the Earth and traveling at incredible speeds. GPS receivers must be able to correct for signal errors resulting from disruption in the Earths ionosphere and from extended travel through the other layers of atmosphere for satellites in tangential lines of sight.

It definitely takes scientists and engineers to make global positioning and navigation work. It also takes an understanding of what the consumer wants and needs. Pharos seems to have a good handle on those factors as well. Their iGPS 360 and their Pocket GPS Navigator have already won many accolades from the technical community and from consumer publications. The Pharos Ostia 6.0 navigation software is also getting high marks, so they seem to be squarely on the right track.

Pharos Is Excelling in Design and Functionality
The iGPS 360 is a finger-sized, Bluetooth-enabled device, with near universal connectivity that can connect to almost any other mobile device and supply advanced GPS navigation assistance. Not only that, it also looks good. It has a chrome chassis with a see-through cover that flashes blue light when operating.
